Failed ignition. After four failed attempts the control enters one-hour lockout (10).
§1Likely causes
- Flame sense rod dirty or not connected
- Gas valve turned off
- Igniter not working, not connected or mispositioned
- Furnace control faulty
- Flame not spreading from first burner to the last
§2Safe DIY steps
- Make sure the gas valve is turned on
- Technicianclean or replace flame sense rod; check its wiring and furnace ground
- Technicianreplace or reposition igniter; check manifold pressure (~3.5" WC natural gas, ~10" WC LP)
- Technicianreplace burner or control if indicated
§3When to call a pro
Call a licensed HVAC technician: if the gas valve is on and ignition still fails.

One-hour lockout, caused by repeated failed ignition (11), water sensed (59), dead blower (61), internal fault (93), flame lost 5 times (13) or unexpected flame (14).
12RheemLow flame sense: flame sense current is weak or marginal. Furnace keeps running.
13RheemFlame lost after established.
14RheemFlame present with gas valve off. Extremely critical; furnace will not operate.
30RheemOpen fuse, usually from a 24 VAC short to common or ground.
33RheemOver-temperature (rollout) switch open: flames rolled out of the heat exchanger into the burner compartment.
